England, 1941. With World War Two shaking the nation, rookie reporter Edie York wants to write the front-page news. But she ends up as the headlines, when she stumbles over a body on the moors….Eager to follow Churchill’s order to keep calm and carry on, Edie York has left the bombed-out streets of Manchester behind for a stroll in the countryside. But her rationed picnic lunch turns to ashes in her mouth, when she discovers Joyce Reid, a well-known anti-war activist, lifeless at the bottom of a cliff.Despite infuriatingly handsome DCI Louis Brennan’s less-than-amused warnings ringing in her ears, Edie is unable to leave the conscripted local bobby to do his work. Heading off to investigate, she immediately uncovers potential suspects galore. From alleged black-marketeers to the local land girl, a shell-shocked artist to Joyce’s on-off lover, Edie is sure the murderer is right under her nose. Then Edie makes another gruesome discovery and realizes she needs long-suffering Louis on the scene to officially investigate. Can they uncover the killer hiding in plain sight, before it’s too late? Or will Edie’s own obituary end up featured on the front pages she’s coveted for so long?A fantastically gripping historical cozy mystery, perfect for fans of Richard Osman and Agatha Christie. This is the second book in the Edie York Mystery series.©2023 F.L. Everett (P)2023 Bookouture, an imprint of Storyfire Ltd.

Ok this drives me nuts - ‘Eager to follow Churchill’s order to keep calm and carry on’.
Keep Calm and Carry On was not a phrase ever used publically during the war. In about 2010 a cache of war era propoganda/infomation posters was discovered in some storage thing or archive. One of the things in this cache were unused posters saying keep calm and carry on.
They were made early in the war in preparation if there had ever been a proper nazi invasion of the UK where they had got meaningful troops on British soil* and it was a poster campaign to say it doesn’t matter if there are nazis on the south coast keep going to work etc.
So saying churchill said keep calm and carry on suggests there’s not enough research or editing gone into this book.
*also again this is a thing people think was going to happen and just wasn’t a realistic prospect, they wanted to force Britain out of the war but operation sealion was never a serious endeavour and they lost all hope of any invasion it after losing the battle of britain - hence why these posters were just shoved somewhere out of the way and forgot about.

Happy you got that little rant off your shoulders?
Blurbs are NOT written by the author, but the marketing dept of the publishers. And because they are cliche-ridden hype, they are very poorly researched.
You are literally judging a book by it’s cover, just it’s back cover.
Oh, and this isn’t the place for your “review”, put that on Goodreads, etc. where somebody cares. :(
