Excellent novel. “Max Brand” was an interesting guy. He used 17 pseudonyms and sometimes would right every article for Western magazines using a different name for each story. He was responsible for the TV and movie creations of “Young Dr. Kildare”, which became a series and “Destry Rides Again.” He wanted to get battlefield experience and a friend got him assigned as a war correspondent with American troops in Italy, where he was killed by shrapnel in 1944.
