Alas, it’s too late for the good people of Dublin, the faeries are now in the ascendant. (From Ground Zero)
The Irish tradition is to only mention these mythical tricksters & japesters by euphemism or circumlocution, such as “the other crowd,” etc.
This mythos is one of the reasons there was no witch hunting palaver here, as, in addition to the hunting of witches being a largely Protestant activity, any mischief or misfortune tended to be imputed to unseen agency.
