You have been inundated with reports from media, governments, think tanks, and “experts” saying that our climate is changing for the worse, and it is our fault. Increases in droughts, heat waves, tornadoes, and poison ivy - to name a few - are all blamed on our “sins of emissions” from burning fossil fuels and increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Yet, you don’t quite buy into this human-caused climate apocalypse. You aren’t sure about the details because you don’t have all the facts and likely aren’t a scientist.
Inconvenient Facts was recorded specifically for you. Described in plain English and providing easy-to-understand information, Gregory Wrightstone presents the science to assess the basis of the threatening Thermageddon. The audiobook’s 60 “inconvenient facts” come from government sources, peer-reviewed literature, or scholarly works, set forth in a way that is lucid and entertaining. The information will likely challenge your current understanding of many apocalyptic predictions about our ever dynamic climate. You will learn that the planet is improving, not in spite of increasing CO2 and rising temperature, but because of it. The very framework of the climate-catastrophe argument will be confronted with scientific fact.
Arm yourself with the truth.

And thanks to anti-vaxers, there’s more free spots in pre-school education! Big pharma doesn’t want you to know this and many more facts!

How to be on the wrong side of history. A child could look down on Los Angeles from the window of a plane and see that we are messing up the environment.
June 1st, 2019
Even the dumbest person on the planet can smell the environmental destruction around them. If your politics lead you to conclude that climate change isn’t happening, that’s because politically speaking - you’re a retard.
June 1st, 2019
Thank you, love it when a book triggers snowflake.

Oh dear.

Science means believing what the evidence says, even if that’s inconvenient.
To believe what is convenient, even when the evidence is against you, you need faith.
June 1st, 2019
Science says that climate change is real. Believing in something when there is no evidence means you’re delusional.
June 1st, 2019
More important to upset the snowflakes than be factually correct it seems
June 1st, 2019
@loonyboyx Yes it is indeed real, and has been real for time immemorial, even cyclical.
The “destructive man-made” kind just isn’t.
June 1st, 2019
Pollution and environmental issues are -not- the same as climate changing.

The scientific method is demonstrably reliable and intuitively a child could see that deforestation and toxic dumping can lead to no good. Sadly this creates an emotional nexus in some peoples minds whereby they presume all studies to be have been conducted without bias. In worry some then make scary predictions, which don’t end up aging well at all, to in turn bring doubt upon the main principle thesis that they wished to support. On the other hand with all these snowflakes melting into liberal tears that could power our hydroelectric plants….. MAGA2020.

Another dividend from the Koch brothers’ investment in anti-science propaganda. They have a clear motive: to maximise the profit of their fossil fuel businesses. In the process, they f*** up the world for the rest of us. They bought the Republicans and so the US govt stands virtually alone in the world in denying the slow apocalypse. And the MAGA halfwits just laugh till their shacks burn down or get blown away in storms.

In my temperate climate country, farmers can now cultivate plants that before were only seen in tropical climate zones, and people in tropical climate zones die from extreme temperatures and see minimum 25% drop in agricultural output. But sure, liberals are lying to make corporations look bad.

@Mria Facts can’t be “debunked”. That website is maintained by John Cook whose fraudulent work is exposed in this book.
“The primary paper that is often trotted out in support of the notion of “97% consensus” was written by John Cook and his merry band of climate extremists. Published in 2013, it is the most widely referenced work on the subject of climate consensus and has been downloaded more than 600,000 times.
Cook runs a climate website that is a smorgasbord of alarmist rhetoric, specializing in attacks—often personal and spiteful in tone—on all who have proven effective in leading others to stray from the dogma of impending climate doom.
The project was self-described as “a ‘citizen science’ project by volunteers contributing to the website.” The team consisted of 12 climate activists who did not leave their climate prejudices at home. These volunteers, many of whom had no training in the sciences, said they had “reviewed” abstracts from 11,944 peer-reviewed papers related to climate change or global warming, published over the 21 years 1991 – 2011, to assess the extent to which they supported the “consensus view” on climate change.”
…
“The paper asserted—falsely, as it turned out—that 97% of the papers the reviewers examined had explicitly endorsed the opinion that humans are causing the majority of the warming of the last 150 years.
When one looks at the data, one finds that 7,930 of the papers took no position at all on the subject and were arbitrarily excluded from the count on this ground. If we simply add back all of the papers reviewed, the 97% claimed by Cook and his coauthors falls to 32.6%.
A closer look at the paper reveals that the so-called “97%” included three categories of endorsement of human-caused climate change (Table II-1). Only the first category amounted to an explicit statement that humans are the primary cause of recent warming. The second and third categories would include most skeptics of catastrophic anthropogenic warming, including me, who accept that increasing CO2 is probably causing some, probably small, amount of warming; an amount that is likely rendered insignificant by natural causes of warmer weather.”
…
“They reviewed the actual papers used by Cook and found that only 0.3% of the 11,944 abstracts and 1.6% of the smaller sample that excluded those papers expressing no opinion endorsed man-made global warming as they defined it. Remarkably, they found that Cook and his assistants had themselves marked only 64 papers—or 0.5% of the 11,944 they said they had reviewed—as explicitly stating that recent warming was mostly man-made. Yet they stated, both in the paper itself and subsequently, that they had found a “97% consensus” explicitly stating that recent warming was mostly man-made.”

I look forward to your uploads on why vaccination and evolution are conspiracies by evil scientist cabals controlled by Hillary Clinton from her secret lair under a pizza restaurant; all financed by George Soros and the Lizard People.
June 1st, 2019
@Gweilo Ad hominems, discarded.
June 1st, 2019
Will you please stop talking about the Lizard People?! They hear stuff, y’know. I’ve even encountered some likely-lizards on this site! Once things heat up, they’re indefatigable (and they don’t get tired either).
June 1st, 2019
Now we get on the real subject and danger: The Lizard People! They already occupy the White House, y’know? Bannon didn’t even bother to disguise himself.
June 1st, 2019
Ad hominems? The title of this book is an ad hominem attack on Gore. I really am wondering how you’re going to top this though–
Anyway, Gore isn’t a scientist, he is just a (former) politician who made a film. He didn’t make up global warming. I’d personally trust the thousands of scientists who contribute to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change rather than some conspiracy freak on a website.
As for Lizard People; my money is on Miller and Kelly-Anne. If you’re quick, you can see the nictitating membranes when they blink.

I always look out for swivel-eyes and the ability to regrow limbs - always a giveaway. They hate that I know this about them. They have axolotl of anxiety about it.
June 1st, 2019
how messed up in the head can you be to write a book like that. put it right in the flat-earther section. problem is there are future generations that would like to inhabit our planet after we’re gone. just denying the obvious problem at hand doesn’t fix it. books like this should be burned at 457 degrees.
June 1st, 2019
aeilw - as you say …. Pollution and environmental issues are -not- the same as climate changing.
We have had 4.5 Billion years of clinmate change and will continue to have it no matter how arrogant some people are to assume we caused it and we created it.
However, the way we destroy and pollute our environment is most certainly an indictment as to why we dont deserve to populate this planet.
June 1st, 2019
@Gweilo Nice trying to shift away from your personal ad hominems.
@swayer5 Either listen to the facts or don’t.
@Roddd Exactly, although I wouldn’t go as far as an indictment of the majority.

One of the first page search links about the author, a geologist not climate scientist, is on the about us page of the Heartland Institute, founded as the Charles Koch Foundation.
No vested interest there at all. No sirree.
“During the 1990s, the Institute worked with tobacco company Philip Morris to question the links between smoking, secondhand smoke and health risks”
So just replaying the denial model used against smoking.
June 2nd, 2019
If this book and the claims it makes are rubbish then read it and establish the facts for yourself. I’m pretty certain the evidence for global warming is overwhelming but I’m willing to see what the counter argument is.
Worst case would be I know what spurious arguments global warming deniers use. Some of you snowflakes should step out of your righteous little bubbles and examine the issue from both sides.
June 2nd, 2019
@burningpanda: why do you assume we haven’t looked at “both sides” and concluded that one side is fact and science based, the other is short-term economic self interest and paranoia? The whole tactic of the deniers was to make a scientific issue into a “both sides” cultural war. This is “both sides” like the question “Is the world flat?”.
@Roddd: yeah, we’ve had billions of years of climate change. The planet survived each transition, sometimes 90% of species did not. And now we are forcing climate change at 1000 times the rate of any natural event short of a giant meteor impact. But don’t worry, the 1% have their gated resorts in the mountains, they’ll be fine unless we start firing nukes.
June 2nd, 2019
@macbolan In reality:
“Is The Heartland Institute funded by the Koch Brothers?
No. Neither Charles Koch nor David Koch — nor any Koch family charitable foundation — is a current or regular contributor to The Heartland Institute. Koch Industries has never funded The Heartland Institute.
The Charles G. Koch Foundation in 2012 donated $25,000 to Heartland to support our work promoting free-market health care solutions, not climate issues. That is a paltry sum (0.36 percent) in our organization’s $7 million budget. That single donation — to support our work on health care issues — was the only Koch-connected contribution to Heartland over the last 16 years. [Important note: Heartland didn’t begin to support and promote scientists who are skeptical of human-caused climate catastrophe until 2008.]
The “Koch Brothers” generously support many nonprofit organizations that promote free markets and individual liberty. The Heartland Institute is not among them. Our policy positions, at any rate, are based on principle. We are not a “pay to play” organization.”
June 2nd, 2019
Stired up a few emotions for a book that majority only giving 1 star
June 2nd, 2019
@aeilw
They were founded in 1974 as the Charles Koch Foundation. “current or regular” can hide a multitude of sins among the irregular and past. They no longer disclose funding sources so checking is impossible.
They also had 3/4 of a million from Exxon.
June 2nd, 2019
I find it interesting that the same people who were lecturing me on civility on this site and in private messages are now here attacking an uploader they disagree with politically without provocation.
June 2nd, 2019
@SilentSargon: I see your point. However, the “provocation” is the book and the dangerous policies that it advocates. That’s what I am “attacking”. As for the uploader, since he is actively supporting these ideas, it’s hard not to speculate why, since it makes no sense at all. But he does seem sincere, and with zero chance of changing his mind, so I’ll leave it at that.
June 2nd, 2019
Why bother putting quotation marks around those two words. He posted a book. Your response was, as the uploader correctly pointed out, was a text book ad hominem attack. Your response to him pointing that out was a further attack on the book he posted rather than acknowledging his point. If you consider the mere existence of a book a personal attack, I would submit that you are not qualified to engage in a civil debate in a society that values free speech. As it is you’ve lost any moral high ground or perceived impartiality that you’re supposed to display as a “global moderator”. That, by the way, was a correct use of quote marks. You owe the man an apology wether you agree with his position or not.
June 2nd, 2019
I don’t know about Climate Change, I’m no scientist, and I dare say neither is anyone commenting here. We can only draw conclusions by listening to scientists/experts in the field. However there is a real danger in simply accepting the word of authority. I recently listened to a book called “The Big Fat Suprise” (it’s about diet, nothing to do with climate change). It’s a fascinating and somewhat horrifying tale about how a certain diet was supported and promoted by a consensus of experts, doctors, and the government. How recently that diet is proving to be completely wrong and probably the cause of the #1 killer in North America. How those few who argued against that diet were shut down and ostracized. It’s a cautionary tale where authority and “consensus” did not equal right.
I’m not saying Climate Change isn’t happening, I don’t know. I’ve bounced back and forth on the topic depending on things I’ve read. What I do know is that the topic is highly politicized, and that should foster skepticism from both sides rather than blind certainty.
June 2nd, 2019
testbunny, exactly right. Although I tend to be more sceptical of the side that wants to silence debate, criminalize opinions and who’s leaders lead hypocritical lifestyles. But that’s just me
June 2nd, 2019
I said “attack” because I don’t think I personally attacked any real person, “ad hominem” or otherwise. Apologies to anyone who feels slighted by “MAGA halfwit”. It is possible to be one but not both.
My actual attacks were not personal, but on the ideas in this book, a book that that excuses behaviour that will make the world a much worse place for our descendants. This is not bitching about literary styles or encoding methods; literally this is life or death.
I did make fun of the conspiracy theorists, an observation that those who buy into one will often buy into a whole slew of such that reinforce their prejudices, regardless of whether it makes even the slightest sense. But I know nothing about aeilw and if he is indeed rational when not talking about climate change, I apologise for insinuating otherwise.
June 2nd, 2019
Ok. Lol.
June 2nd, 2019
@testbunny
A geologist is not an expert on climate, which is alone is enough to be a concern. Yet I don’t want nutrition advice funded by Coca Cola or trade groups trying to move blame from sugar to fat etc. Chances are they have a desired answer first. By the same token I can’t take seriously cancer information funded by Philip Morris or other tobacco interests, or climate “science” from scientists in other fields or funded by those with an agenda - like the fossil fuel industry. For me that is the clear and obvious reason to be sceptical of the information presented.
Were it a book from a meteorologist or climatologist with independent or non conflicting credentials finding fault it would be far easier to take at face value.

Hey merican climate deniers, are we enjoying all the record smashing flooding that’s been going on for months now? Oh hell ya the levees did break. Woe the farmers. Btw you should listen to all those old timer conservative farmers when they say “ain’t seen nothing like it”, which is the exact same thing the old timer fire fighters been saying about wildfire behaviour the last decade.
Climate deniers will go down being the most wrongest group ever on the wrong side of history. I think a decent case can be made that y’all have plenty of blood & suffering on your hands - try washing it off during the next record destroying AGW Jacked hurricane or flood. Shouldn’t have too long to wait.
