Rachel Dycek, M. D., was just following orders. Using convicts as fodder, she surgically transforms them for the Mars environment. The government needs the overhauled beings - called “adin” - to build the red planet for human colonists.

But adins can still think, and their leader, Boris Tiban, realizes once his people finish the work, the won’t be able to inhabit the very world they shaped.
