I read this when it came out in 2019. It was/is too conservative then and now it reads like infantile (progressives) hopium.
The humans are doomed by a hot house mass extinction they triggered. Get ready for a physics lesson in nonlinearity kids. By the end of this decade, you won’t recognize the place. First AGW will finish smashing, burning & flooding your infrastructure, thus ending civilization. Once civilization is ruined, a great human cull will begin - 99% human die-back or extinction.

They’ve all ran away and are in hiding because climate deniers were WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
I should clarify that it’s right-wing contrarian deniers that are all but extinct. There’s a growing number of progressive climate deniers out there pimping not yet invented technological wonders that will save the humans. These tech toys are built into some of the IPCC model projections…you have to read the mouse print though, because they fear the plebs knowing the truth. The truth is a rapacious ape has triggered yet another mass hot house extinction & it can’t be stopped.

Door #1 Volcanoes, Door #2 Asteroids, Door #3 Carbon Dioxide. Let’s go with door #3, but let’s make sure we do it before there are any intergalactic life rafts. Jeff Bezos and the others will make it part-way to the moon though, for a great view of the inferno before crashing into a dead satellite. Lucky billionaires! Isn’t it awkward that Hell has been imagined as a place on fire with a bunch of sinners eating themselves! My what a fanciful imagination those religious folks have! Great book so far!
