I remember reading his back in the 1970s. (We had PROPER nostalgia back then).
I don’t remember it being post apocalyptic though.
I think it was the first SF book to introduce the idea of a computer worm (but I’m willing to be corrected if anyone knows better).
I never did manage to finish Alvin Toffler’s Futureshock which has been accused of inspiring Brunner. (Too many big words and not enough pictures).

All in the details! The oligarchy at the center of the novel only exists because of a natural disaster that killed millions and the following economic disaster.
And yes, the computer “worm” originates here!
