Charles Darwin’s remarkable On the Origin of Species was a groundbreaking work that fundamentally altered how scientists approached the study of life itself. However, since its publication in 1859, the modern science of biology and genetics has added surprising new dimensions to evolutionary theory.
In this course, you’ll discover what Darwin didn’t know, covering much of the curriculum of an introductory college course in evolutionary biology. No background in science is needed to follow these engaging lectures, delivered by Professor Scott Solomon of Rice University, a gifted teacher and widely traveled field biologist.
Dr. Solomon reveals how the many gaps and mysteries in the evolutionary theory of Darwin’s day were systematically solved by brilliant researchers, such as Gregor Mendel, Thomas Hunt Morgan, Theodosius Dobzhansky, Rosalind Franklin, James Watson, Francis Crick, Motoo Kimura, and a host of others, who have brought the world into a golden age of biological research.
Your lessons begin by laying the foundation of Darwin’s theory. Then, you’ll move forward in time, and hear how advances in genetics, molecular biology, paleontology, and even geology have given Darwin’s ideas more depth, and in some cases, turned them on their heads. You’ll uncover how DNA reconstruction has allowed us to gain a clearer picture of evolutionary history and explore the vital role of heredity in the millions of species known today - including species Darwin himself never even dreamed would exist. Throughout these lectures, you’ll apply modern evolutionary theory to better understand the breeding of plants, animals, and genetically modified organisms. Finally, you’ll hear how the cutting-edge science of gene editing is being used to influence evolution, and you’ll peer into the future to gauge the prospects for further evolution of our own species.

The original 1859 cover page for Darwin’s famous book reads: “The Origin Of Species by Means of Natural Selection, Or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle For Life”
He was a racist bastard. Look it up. You are going to trust THIS man’s science?

Just because someone is a racist bastard doesnt make their science wrong.

@josehm science about blacks were wrong. and scientists in 2016 excluded even neodarwinism their meetings because its failed to give guidings in modern science. we dont live in a era that you can ass pull stuff and say its evolution so therefore my assumptions is correct. scientists dont read stuff like ”why evolution is right” only intelligent design scientists does bacause they showed the lies of genetic devolution. asian scientists for decates knew this and said darwins tree should be upside down but then evolutionists said if we do this then Noah s ark would be scientific so they said we are goint to use WEB OF LİFE instead of tree of life. but that was the first win for ID because a designer would use same DNA and design for its creautures. just like similar DNA of octopuse eyes and human eyes. darwinism is dead you cant ass pull stuff just because their DNA is similar. look for 2016 meeting of royal science meeting

@rawy
Just goes to show how little you actually understand evolutionary theory. It’s more than just simply looking at the dna. But this isn’t a debate forum so I’ll leave it to other places. Suffice to say, it’s a theory for a reason. There are multitudes of evidence in multiple different fields of study. Darwin wasn’t the only one to come up with the evolutionary hypothesis and has since been much more fleshed out than it was in those early days.

Darwin didn’t know a whole lot, and those who are keeping his theory on life support are ignoring science to prop up a failed hypothesis.

Thanks - always appreciate these courses. You’ve been doing good work here long enough to ignore the bots that seem intent on dragging down modern thought.

@rukal The good old - you dont understand evolution brah. yes islamic scientists also proposed natural selection and indians were the first ones to talk about evolution. we surpased those era now we can understand microbiology. chemical evo- yes-
micro evolution- yes
but
macro evo - NO!
