“Moving, multifaceted, and deeply human…as eye-opening as it is compelling” —Cecile Richards, author of Make Trouble
At a time where reproductive rights are at risk, these vital stories of diverse individuals serve as a reminder of the importance of empathy, finding community and motivating advocacy
For a long time, when people asked Dr. Meera Shah, Chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, what she did, she would tell them she was a doctor and leave it at that. But when she started to be direct about her work as an abortion provider an interesting thing started to one by one, people would confide that they’d had an abortion themselves. The refrain was often the You’re the only one I’ve told.
This book collects these stories as they’ve been told to Shah to humanize abortion and to combat myths that persist in the discourse that surrounds it. A wide range of ages, races, socioeconomic factors, and experiences shows that abortion always occurs in a unique context.
Today, a healthcare issue that’s so precious and foundational to reproductive, social, and economic freedom for millions of people is exploited by politicians who lack understanding or compassion about the context in which abortion occurs. Stories have the power to break down stigmas and help us to empathize with those whose experiences are unlike our own.
A portion of proceeds will be donated to promote reproductive health access.

Otherwise known as Murder Inc.
And “Dr.” Shah known as the Dr. Mengele of Planned Parenthood. Angel of Death
I always thought it ironic that the title “planned parenthood” was about the planned killing of a human being. No parenthood involved here.
And Margret Sanger, the founder of PP. She started PP to control blacks and other “inferiors” from breeding.

For anyone not wanting to fact check what apollo60 said, I did:
Margret Sanger opposed abortion. At the time the idea was prevention of unwanted pregnancy, especially among those unable to afford children. Race wasn’t a factor, she was just as glad to provide birth control to white Catholics as to black Baptists. Birth control remains the majority of what PP does, not that you’d know that if you listen to the propaganda from the right. Sanger died in 1966. PP didn’t start providing abortions until the 70s.

The rest of the post is just random name calling.
There are valid reasons to support or oppose abortion based on your personal beliefs. One of the cornerstones of a free society is the idea that your personal beliefs do not entitle you to dictate the lives of others. You can try to ban something with broad public support, but it won’t end well for you.

In an often sad world, the saddest thing.

Reproductive Rights, eh? How about exercising some Reproductive Responsibility?
Oh, right, you are a hapless slave to your instincts …

Tell that to a rape victim or a insest survivor or a young teen on drugs or ect ect. Yea chrisxii that never happens. I mean rape is so rare we don’t even have a law against it. Oh wait we do. Hummm. Weard eh. Personal choice goes out the window when force is used. If you don’t have freedom over your own body then you don’t have any freedom at all. I love how people who preach freedom are the frist to take it away from others. How about this it is all God’s plan and you are interfering with it.Ever thought that God so loved free will that he does not interfere. Mabey you should follow God’s example and also not interfere with other people’s freedom will.

I love how the pro-abortion supporters always jump to that very small percentage of cases where abortion should be considered. Health of the mother, rape victims (especially those 13 year olds), etc.
Fair enough.
We can have meaningful discussions about those when you’re ready to have meaningful discussions about the vast majority of abortions that are simply a convenient form of “birth control” for women who don’t want to take responsibility for their actions.
How’s that sound??

It is the outliers that prove the point. We have laws against murder. Not everyone murders yet it is the outlier or the rare thing that makes a law necessary. So let’s say you have 10000 abortions and one percent are because of a horrible crime that means you will harm 1000 people. How much harm is too much for you? Or does freedom matter so little to you that any amount of harm is ok with you? You believe abortion harms children. Others don’t believe that. So what you want to impose your beliefs upon others? That is evil. Pure and simple evil. Forcing your belief upon others when it does not cause you personal harm is evil.
