A dystopian science fiction story about the nightmare of self-driving cars
Melbourne’s Deakin University commissioned Cory Doctorow to write a science fiction story about the design and regulation of self-driving cars, inspired by his essay about the misapplication of the “Trolley Problem” to autonomous vehicles.
The story, Car Wars, takes the form of a series of vignettes that illustrate the problem with designing cars to control their drivers, interspersed with survey questions to spur discussion of the wider issues of governments and manufacturers being able to control the operation of devices we own and depend on.

Cool! Stephen King could rewrite Maximum Overdrive. Instead of Haley’s Comet controlling analogue tech, make it computers controlling digital tech. But I guess an evil sentient comet (or whatever) is much more fun.
anansisan, I know this isn’t the place. I can’t sign into the boards. If you have Dennis Lehane’s Gone Baby Gone, I’d love you forever if you posted it. And Andrew Vachss’ Burke series (read by Phil Gigante) other than book 1, 2 and 4.
Anybody’s help would be welcome. : )

To head off replies, yes, I have looked and tried all other links on this sight. Tried for six months and waited and waited. They’re dead links. Anyway thanks again.

@BPV - Those books aren’t my genre.

This reminds me of the classic movie “The Web” about Johnny Depp hacking into an asteroid
