The real roots of “mindfulness” go back to Descartes who mislead us in to the mind-body dualism and into thinking that there is such a thing as “mind”.

Descartes just detected a problem inherent in all of us, nothing more. And gave it a name, sorta. His only mistake was he took it for virtue.
