‘How to use’ text below was included by uploader, without explanation why it is necessary to make life hard for others, only because they like .opus, and desire to force it upon those who do not.
There is no way to convert from opus to MP3 or M4B without buying converter app, or being comfortable using the terminal in Mac OS.
I appreciate every upload, and have said so many times.
That said, uploading in this format makes no sense.
Uploader likes opus fine.
Uploader has mp3 then converts to opus for upload, misguided and tragic.
“How to use or convert .opus files:
This format is used by, e.g., SoundCloud and YouTube and many systems (excluding Apple/iOS) can already play .opus files. Andriod supports .opus including apps such as Smart Audiobook Player. VLC will play .opus files as well. Sometimes OSs/applications might not recognize
and associate “.opus”. In that case, changing the extentions to .ogg may solve the problem. (In bash: for i in *.opus; do mv “$i” “${i%.*}”.ogg; done).
Alternately, you may want to convert them to something else. To convert from .opus to .mp3 w/ffmpeg in bash: for file in *.opus; do ffmpeg -i “$file” -q:a 8 “${file%.*}”.8.mp3; done
There are versions of ffmpeg for windows and ios. You’ll have to investigate how to create a loop in those operating systems, however, in iOS you should be able to use the bash systax above.
