This first book seems to be focusing on the non human characters more, its only a problem because from the summary I was thinking the human slave was going to be the main focus the whole time.
I believe focusing on the other characters for this first book helped greatly with the world building.
I’m getting a very strong Mistborn feeling.
Humans are able to get super powers from genetic flaws. Flaws are subjective but I hope they explain what flaws humans have other than short life.
